We were treated to their dance festival. As night descended, a loud-speaker played a tape-recording (from a scratchy record) of a traditional Lahu song intended just for this night.

People accumulated. Some of the women dressed up but the guys stuck with their "adidas".

Though the drumming was painfully unelaborated, one guy played curious melodies on a reedy pipe. Late at night they switched to Thai pop that was heard until morning. We didn't get much sleep.
